Welcome to my Website
My name is Rory Layne, my middle name is Jane, but when mom calls me "Rory Jane Layne", I know it's not a term of endearment. I also have a nick-name "Snarker Barker" because... well... I like to snark and bark.

More about me
I am a Female Boarder Collie. I am a remarkably bright athletically workaholic, if I do say so myself. As a Border Collie I am an amazing dog, maybe a bit too amazing for mom and dad. I need a lot of their time and energy to keep me occupied. I am medium-sized, standing about 19 inches at the shoulder. My overall look is that of a muscular, but nimble worker. Boarders come in both rough and the smooth coats with a variety of colors and patterns. I have a rough, (long hair), coat and am black and white. My dark almond shaped eyes are the focus of my intelligent expression and intense gaze. Border's have what's called the 'herding eye', as a breed hallmark, (I love to herd my fur-sister, (Lizzy), other animals and small children). Borders are among the canine kingdom's most agile, balanced, and durable citizens. The intelligence, athleticism, and trainability of Borders have a perfect outlet in agility training. Having a job to perform, like agility, herding or obedience work is the key to our happiness. I am amiable among friends but very reserved with strangers, unless bribed with yellow cheese, I really love yellow cheese! Mom says I'm a lot of work, dad says I'm worth it, my fur-sister, Lizzy's not so sure.
Exercise me
I am an athletic breed extremely energetic and require daily exercise beyond just a walk around the block or a quick romp in the yard. I thrive when I have a job to do and space to run. Clearly, I'm a breed for an active owner, and not for someone who prefers to stay indoors or who travels away from home frequently. Boarder Collies often participate (and excel) in herding events, not to mention obedience, agility, rally, and tracking competitions. However, I also like car rides, chasing my fur-sister and running to the fridge when I hear someone getting into the cheese.
Training (for Dad)
Early socialization is especially vital with us Border Collie's, entailing positive exposure to a wide variety of people and situations from early puppyhood through about seven months. Obedience training that starts early and continues throughout my life will keep me happy and provide needed mental stimulation. Border Collies are highly intelligent and highly trainable and are superstars at canine activities such as herding, obedience, and agility. Due to our tendency to herd animals and people, we do best with older, well-behaved children. I love families but as mentioned, may be somewhat reserved with strangers.
